Altorfer Financial Management Ltd Independent Financial Advisers
Our Staff
Louisa Bracey: Financial Planning Assistant
Louisa joined Altorfer in June 2011 as a trainee paraplanner, after spending seven years with St James’s Place. Louisa is a member of the Personal Finance Society, and has passed a number of professional exams to achieve that status.
“I love spending time with my son, who keeps me very active. Any spare time I have is taken up with studying for my Financial Planning qualifications, going to the gym and gardening. I spent several years working overseas, and still really enjoy visiting and exploring new places.”
Mark Chaplin: Director of Finance and Lead Fund Manager
Mark trained as a chartered accountant with Grant Thornton. He has wide industry experience, having spent some years as Finance Director of a FTSE listed company.
“Our eldest son is working as a qualified solicitor with a leading London firm, whilst our second son graduated from Warwick University in the summer of 2010. I am coming to the end of a refurbishment project at our home where we have now lived for four years, and when not gardening, will be looking forward to our next visit to warmer shores.
Studying for the CFA Level I exam in the summer of 2011 took up a great deal of my spare time, so I am catching up on leisure activities at the moment! ”
Gill Lovelace: Financial Planning Assistant
Gill joined the company in April 2006 as part of the adviser support team. Gill has had many years of experience in Financial Services, before returning to employment after having a family.
“This is my first job since having my three girls and I'm enjoying being me again, not just Mum! When I'm not working I like to potter at home and take the girls out to trips to the park and farms or visit friends and family”
Katy Massey: Assistant Administrator
Katy joined the company in August 2007, supporting Lynn in our Administration function.
“When I am not working, lots of my spare time is spent with my young nephew. He is my favourite hobby. I also enjoy socialising, travelling and going to the gym.”
Rohan Patel: Financial Planning Assistant
Rohan joined Altorfer in September 2010 as a trainee paraplanner, after spending five years with Halifax, three of which were in an advisory capacity.
“My biggest passion outside of work is cricket, and on Sundays in the summer months nothing will stop me turning out for my local team, even if that first century still eludes me! I also love travelling and like to get away up to three times a year.”
Roger Taylor: Managing Director
Roger has degrees from Cambridge University and the University of Victoria, Wellington, NZ. He spent sixteen years abroad working variously as a teacher, carpenter, seaman and classical musician. Roger is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst Level 1 exam.
“I have always believed in keeping a good balance between work and leisure. Away from Altorfer, I have developed an alternative career as a single-handed ocean sailor and author.”
Daniel Wackett: Senior Adviser
Daniel joined Altorfer in 1996, having spent 10 years in advisory positions with both Lloyds Bank and Midland Bank. He was appointed an Associate Director of the company in May 2011. Daniel holds the Certified Financial Planner qualification, and is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst Level 1 exam.
“I have seen many changes to our profession with the introduction of higher standards and increased regulation – I do not expect this trend to change. I also believe that at Altorfer we have the facilities and expertise to deal with these changes, and offer our clients an excellent cost-effective level of service.
I spend a lot of my spare time looking after my sons, taking them to Scouting events and other activities. I also enjoy bowling, playing golf, watching other sports, visiting National Trust properties, and relaxing with a book after a hard day at work.”
Helen Wake: Financial Planner
Helen studied law at the University of Hertfordshire and is a Registered Advisor with the FSA. Helen is embracing her role as an adviser with the company, and is building up her own bank of clients.
“After ‘falling in’ to financial advice as a career, I am enjoying it more and more with every year that passes, and often find that I get totally absorbed. When not working, I like to socialise with my husband, pet cat and grown up son, and I occasionally make it out to the countryside for some spectacular views, or into town for some fabulous shows”
Lynn Webb: Head of Administration
Lynn spent 11 years with the Bank of England before joining Abbey National plc for a further 19 years. She has now been with Altorfer for over eight years.
“When I am not working my hobbies include travel, going to the theatre and golf, which I never thought would be for me, but I enjoy every minute (even on the bad days!)”
